From childhood, I have always loved to draw and paint and have a passion for viewing art, whether it be local artists or National and International gallery exhibitions. I am extremely lucky to have lived in some of the most beautiful and inspirational areas of the UK. I grew up on the south coast of Britain, did my BA Honours degree in South Wales and after a few years in the Thames Valley escaped with my young family to the amazing Isle of Skye where we had what we believed to be the most beautiful view in the world. Once our sons left for university my husband and I moved to the relatively unknown but surprisingly spectacular Solway Coast in South Scotland and have spent the last ten years exploring and enjoying the wonderful Dumfries and Galloway landscape.
The Scottish Landscape and being outdoors in the amazing scenery have always been a major inspiration to me. Whether it is the wide sweeping vistas of my Scottish seascape and mountain paintings or my attempts to capture the majesty of Skye, I have always tried to combine colour and texture to capture the essence of my subject. My more recent flower paintings and local Solway Coast scenery try to distil the shape, movement and vibrancy of a tree, flower or hedgerow seen on my regular walks around Dumfries and Galloway.
